Dear Customer,
Egypt ends Daylight Saving Time tonight, Thursday, October 29, 2026. At midnight, clocks go back one hour (to 11:00 PM), and winter time begins on Friday, October 30.
What this means for you
- Your services are not affected. Your websites, email and servers will keep running as normal, with no downtime expected from the change.
- Time-based tasks may behave differently. If your server, application or control panel is set to Cairo local time (Africa/Cairo), scheduled tasks such as cron jobs, backups and automated reports may run an hour earlier or later than before, and tonight’s 11:00 PM–12:00 AM hour will occur twice. Log timestamps may also appear to repeat or shift during that hour.
- Servers set to UTC are unaffected. UTC has no daylight saving change, so only the local-time equivalent shifts.
What we recommend
- Review your scheduled tasks (cron jobs, backups, newsletters, automated reports) and adjust them if they need to run at a specific local time.
- If you manage your own server, make sure the system timezone data is up to date.
- Check that any time-sensitive scripts or applications behave correctly after the change, especially tonight’s repeated hour.
Regards,
Link Datacenter Team
